New Gmail: Google Unveils Gmail Changes

Facebook can't have all the fun–now Gmail is spicing up its services with a new look. The change isn't drastic, but there are some obvious differences. Users can now decide the amount of space given to a particular spot on the left side navigation panel. If you're a label fiend, the chat area will be minimized, and if you're a Chatty Cathy, chats will take up the majority of the space. And if you need to scroll, those panels stay with you. Size also matters for the new Gmail. There's a icon on the upper-right hand corner that allows you to adjust the spacing of the lists. "Comfortable" is the largest amount of space, followed by "cozy" and "compact." Users can adjust the density if they're on a smart phone or computer. Adaptability seems to be a theme within the new Gmail. The screen automatically adjusts to any size window. There's also now an all-in-one advanced search box that allows users to filter based on whether the desired email has an attachment and any key words. The company has also made email conversation threads more readable with a horizontal format. The thread also shows the sender's profile picture, which makes it easier in an email with multiple participants to see who is speaking.
